In 2005, Doctor Reyna, his wife, three children, and mother-in-law were living in a 25&apost; RV trailer in the border town of Donna, Texas. Doctor Reyna runs a Christian medical clinic in Reynosa, Mexico where he offers free and low-cost medical care and medication to the community. When the Christian Temple Church family heard of the sacrifices and dedication to the gospel that Doctor Reyna and his family made as unto the Lord, they were inspired to bless the Doctor’s family.
Combining finances and effort, the Christian Temple church family and Grace Temple Church family purchased a parcel of land and a three bedroom modular home and gave it to Doctor Reyna’s family. Pastor Rob Coones, pastor of Christian Temple, and Pastor Michael Beachy, pastor of Grace Temple, led a group of contractors and their families to Donna to renovate the purchased home.
The mission team tiled bathrooms, built decks, painted, installed underpinning and cleaned the new home as unto the Lord for the family who had sacrificed so much for the sake of the gospel. All though the main thrust of the missions trip was to serve Doctor Reyna and his family, the church people also ministered to the people of Reynosa by sharing food, clothing, bikes and toys with the people.
In 2007, Brother Rob and Doctor Reyna reunited for the cause of Christ. Brother Rob and Sister Irene flew out of Charlotte, North Carolina to pick up a medical/hospital bus in Oklahoma City for Flame of Truth Ministries. Flame of Truth had donated the bus to Doctor Reyna. Brother Rob and Sister Irene overhauled several mechanical problems on the bus on their way to McAllen, Texas. Feeling confident that the bus was in good working order, they drove the bus over 1,000 miles into the heart of Mexico, to the flood devastated area of Tabasco, Mexico.
Doctor Reyna and his family gave Bro. Rob and Sister Irene a hands-on tour of Villa Hermosa, one of the hardest hit area’s of the flood ravaged region.
The families of Christian Temple church were honored to have a part in what the Flame of Truth Ministries and Doctor Reyna are doing in the name of the Lord for the people of Mexico. Christian Temple is making plans for another Christmas trip to Mexico.
The church family is excited to return to Mexico to assist with much needed repairs on the Reynosa, Mexico medical center. Please check back here often for updates and lists of needed donations!
